This is "Popeye, the PersonalTrainer." Really, this is Douglas Finer.
Tomorrow, Saturday, May 19th, 1 to 4pm. I am teaching one last class before Ileave for the summer; a three hour class on Acro Dance Techniques. I am sureyou will like this class. Sweet people come here.
• IT IS CHALLENGING AND FUN
• ACCESS YOUR CORE - WHERE STRENGTH ORIGINATES
• EXPERIENCE STRENGTH NATURALLY AND WITH EASE
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN: To engage your core! We practice protocols designed usingthe science of movement. This will tonify your core, and, when practicedroutinely, help you to stay fit into your 90’s. These are foundational elementsin Ecstatic Dance. This is a fun way to train. Not a drooling routine orclassical gym protocols.
WHO WILL BE THERE: People who long to feel and explore themselves throughmovement. This is intermediate and advanced. Beginners with commitment tofitness, please join us.
WHAT WE PRACTICE: Floor work, simple acrobatics, stretching whilestrengthening, contact improvisation, Acroyoga and lots of creative and mindfulexercises. This is interactive. Lots of partner work. Only positive feedback isused. NO PRESSURE. Work at your own pace. Individual interpretations ofmovement are encouraged. We all “check-in” at the end. Classes are designed bywho shows up.

Garaj Mahal 9-1 a.m. This amazing band always has the dance floor jammed !
Red is the color of the energy of the first chakra which connects us with our tribe. Spread the word to your friends !
Bring Red Food and Drink, Wear Red clothes, Color your toenails Red, Die your hair Red-Well you get the idea. ( Note: As always, shoes left in the garage to protect my floors and add a feeling of informality)

Just a reminder of Douglas' ACRO DANCE TECHNIQUES CLASS at Galaxy. Below is the information again. I would love to have yall dancers come . You WILL enjoy the training. For all levles. Don't be shy.

ACRO DANCE TECHNIQUES

STAYING STRONG INTO YOUR 90’s

This class is about working smart and efficiently. It is for all ages 16 to 90+. The class is as easy or challenging as you choose. You will be accessing the potential for strength in a manner that is easier than in the past. There are frequent “aha” moments because we focus on accessing strength through the center of your gravity from where your strength potentiates. We will follow appropriate sequences to ultimately get to the top of your potential. The element of fun and camaraderie makes the challenge easier. Laughter seems common in this class. This will help you to amend your old ways of moving and reestablish habits that over a period of time will change your body/mind in several ways:

You will be stronger as you learn how to more easily access the source from where your movement comes.
You will eventually have more energy after being empowered to move with efficiency.
You will release muscles not needed for the movements at hand and have more energy to do that which you are choosing.

· You will notice improved posture.

As you become more vertical and in line with gravity, tight muscles will begin to soften thereby easing your pains. Less pain, more joy.

WE PRACTICE engaging our core through sequential protocols designed using principles of Exercise Science and our intuition:

1. Acroyoga techniques.

2. Stretching and strengthening techniques.

3. Lots of floor movement.

4. The basic principles of acrobatics and gymnastics. For those more advanced, there is space for you to do more advanced movements.

5. Lots of improvisational and experimental movement.

6. We practice some partner work. Safety and personal boundaries are emphasized.

7. The combination of Contact improvisation and Zen wrestling (non competitive). This is so much fun!!

8. Circle sharing always happens in the end and sometimes more often. We support each other here.

9. We practice inner listening, “hearing” and tuning into our bodies. This is a place for you to discover you.

ABOUT THE TEACHER: DOUGLAS FINER

· Since 1975, Douglas has been a personal trainer, massage instructor, yogi, performer, nutritionist, Massage Therapy teacher, actor and dancer. He has multiple licenses, degrees and certifications in health studies. He complements his college studies with a deep exploration of body work, movement, Somatics and psychotherapeutics. Douglas has taught anatomy, physiology, kinesiology and massage therapy all over Texas for a decade. He is a degreed personal fitness trainer, massage therapy instructor as well as a licensed massage therapist with 25 years of experience. His warmth, humor and open heartedness create a safe and respectful environment in play and movement.

I am starting a 7 week series (dropins welcome) beginning March 3rd going to April 14th. Every Saturday from 1 to 2pm. We meet at Galaxy DanceStudios. $10 per class. Below is the description.

CORE STRENGTH DANCE

STAYING STRONG INTO YOUR 90’s

This class is about working smart. It is for all adultsincluding young ones with determination and focus. The class is as easy orchallenging as you choose. You will be accessing the potential for strength. Wefocus on accessing the center of gravity from where your strength potentiates.We will follow appropriate sequences to ultimately get to the top of yourpotential. The element of fun and camaraderie makes the challenge easier.
