As President of the Institute for Neuroscience and Consciousness Studies, I'd like to let you know about an upcoming special presentation.  As a nonprofit organization dedicated to public education and research into human consciousness, INACS endeavors each year to bring a national leader in the field of consciousness research to central Texas.  In recent years, we’ve hosted Dean Radin, and co-hosted Bill Tiller and Stanley Krippner.

This year, we're thrilled to be offering a lecture and workshop featuring Thomas Campbell.  Nuclear physicist Thomas Campbell helped get Bob Monroe’s laboratory for the study of consciousness up and running in the ’70s.  Tom, the “TC (physicist)” in Monroe’s book Far Journeys, has been a serious explorer of the frontier of reality, mind, consciousness, altered states and psychic phenomena for 35 years. He has steered his research toward discovering the outer boundaries, inner workings and causal dynamics of the larger reality system. He published his My Big TOE trilogy in 2003 (please see Tom Campbell's website at my-big-toe.com for more information).

In his "My Big TOE" (Theory of Everything) trilogy, Campbell succeeds in systematically illuminating the underlying unity of modern physics and metaphysics.  He stresses the importance of direct first-hand exploration of these realms while maintaining a thoroughly scientific attitude--both components are crucial to breaking through the limitations of either unbridled subjective experience or "objective" western scientific methodology.

Thomas will be presenting his work during several events between November 5th and 8th.  The main event will be an all-day workshop on November 8th entitled, “Consciousness and the Larger Reality: The Inside Story.”  The workshop will be preceded by a free lecture on Friday, November 7th at 7:00 pm.  Both workshop and lecture will take place at the Unitarian Universalist Church at 4700 Grover Ave. in Austin.  In addition, he will take part in a radio interview on KOOP (91.7 FM or streaming online at KOOP.org) on Weds., November 5th from 6:00 to 7:00 pm, as well as a talk and book-signing at Book People, 603 N. Lamar Blvd. on Thursday, Nov. 6th at 7:00 pm. 

The Saturday workshop will provide an in-depth and interactive exploration of Campbell’s model of reality.  In this workshop, you will gain insights into the unity of physics and metaphysics, the origins and inner workings of consciousness and reality, mind and matter; integrate your personal experience and present understanding within a larger scientific context; and learn how love, spirituality and quantum mechanics are derived as fundamental aspects of reality.  Advance tickets for non-INACS members, purchased by October 19th, are $85; they include a 2-DVD set of Thomas Campbell's London Lecture and a 2008-2009 membership in INACS.
